An SCBC “Santa Cruz’n Christmas”
Did you know that unlike any other time of year, Christmas is a time when people are open to coming to church? So, this year SCBC is going to take a HUGE step of faith and create a 1950’s Christmas wonderland called “Santa Cruz’n Christmas.” A place where families can come and celebrate Christmas, have a ton of fun and ultimately discover that the true gift of Christmas is Jesus! Be a part of giving this gift to our community by getting involved! Here are some ways you can help: bring cookies & cider, or help at or with the following; petting zoo, living Nativity, Candyland, set up or tear down, publicity & marketing or with the 50’s diner.
Divorcecare
DivorceCare groups meet weekly to help you face separation and divorce challenges and move toward rebuilding your life. Each session has three distinct elements: video seminar featuring top experts and real-life case studies, and then followed by smaller support group time. DivoreCare begins Monday, Nov. 9, from 6:30-8:30pm in the Coffee Shop (AC10). Childcare can be arranged with advance notice. For more information call x260.
Mission Festival 2009 - Nov. 15, 22 & 29
“iMissions....Won by One” is the theme of this year’s Mission Festival. Come hear great stories and testimonies that will be shared about what God has been doing here locally and around the world. This year welcome back to SCBC dear friends Tom Randall, Dan Kimball and our own Dave Michelson! Come and be challenged and see how you can be involved in making a difference in Missions! You won’t want to miss it!
Guys Night Out! - November 20, 2009
Meet at SCBC in front of the Main Sanctuary at 6pm. Or just meet us at Las Palmas (taqueria across from ACTUAL Wharf by Ideal Bar and Grill) at 630pm. Let’s go see the 49ers!
Now is a chance to go see the MOST EXCITING football team in the NFL. No matter what you might think of the 49ers they are EXCITING and Determined to play flaw proof Football. On Monday December 14th SCBC is going to the FortyNiner vs. Cardinals Football game. The cost is $62 if your ticket is purchase on or before Nov 1, then the cost will go up to $65. Knit Wits Scarf Sale
The Knit Wits BIG Christmas scarf & cookbook sale will be Nov 29 & Dec 6 in the coffee shop after services. Proceeds go to help those in need locally. If you love to knot or would like to learn, you can join them on Wednesday in WC10 at noon. Call Judy Williams for more info 728-9071.
Operation Christmas Child
Operation Christmas Child brings joy and hope to children’ in desperate situations worldwide through simple, gift-filled shoe boxes and the Good News of God’s love. Stop by the table in the lobby and pick up a box and information to fill a shoebox for a hurting child. It’s simple, pick up a shoe box, choose a boy or girl and an age category, fill the box with gifts and drop it off here at SCBC. Gifts like schools supplies, hygiene items, toys and personal notes. This year you can also follow your box on line and find out its destination by making your donation on line. Women's fall bible study
Ladies, it’s time to register for Santa Cruz Bible Church Women’s Fall Bible studies! There are four different bible studies to choose from. They begin on Thursday mornings starting September 17 – Nov 19 from 9:30 – 11:30am here at SCBC. Please stop by the table in the lobby to sign up or pick up a brochure.
Moneyhelp on tuesday
“Money making you crazy? Come to “Moneyhelp,” a support group that meets every Tuesday in WC 20B from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM. Come and learn a new mindset to handling money that can help you gain freedom and content at levels you never dreamed possible. Sunday Old testament survey class
“Old Testament Survey” is starting Sunday, October 11 and will meet every Sunday at 10:30 AM in WC 22. Come have a year-long learning adventure in the Old Testament that will impact your heart and mind. This is your chance to gain a grasp of the Old Testament as a whole, so don’t miss it. The class meets in WC 22 and meets at 10:30 AM on Sundays. John Broersma is the teacher.
Arise and cry out!
A worldwide day of prayer for children and schools, hosted by Moms in Touch International will be on Saturday, November 14 from 9am to 1pm at Twin Lakes Church. Register now at www.momsintouch.org.
adopt-a-chaplain ~ Christmas
Join us this year for our Operation Christmas Stocking. This is a great way for us to bring a bit of Christmas for the men and women serving in the Military overseas. Stop by the table in the lobby and pick up a stocking to fill and get more info on how you can personalize by adding notes and letters. And if you have left over Halloween Candy, this is a great way to pass it on. Thank you in advance for your heart to be His hands of love to our soldiers. Weekly Tuesday Prayer Group
Prayer is an important part of Santa Cruz Bible Church. There is a new opportunity to be part of a midweek prayer group, that has just begun. The prayer group will meet every Tuesdays from 12-1:15pm in WC10. Childcare is available. It is our hope that these gatherings will glorify God and draw us closer to Him. knit wits
Do you knit? Do you want to learn? This is the group for you. They love to gather and knit for the community. They meet weekly in WC10 beginning Wednesday Sept 9 from 12pm - 2pm with an optional Bible study from 2pm - 4pm. For more info contact Judy Williams at 728-9071.
pantry needs
SCBC’s food pantry is stocked to help families in need both in and outside of our church body. This year we have been able to give out 350 bags of food & delivered over 400 boxes to needy families. If you would like to help, our current pantry needs are: cleansers, toothpaste, bath soap, dish soap, rice-a-roni, pasta, canned pasta sauce, mayonnaise,
paper grocery bags and large juice bottles. Please drop off your donations in the green bins in the WC lobby. If you would like more information please contact the Care Team at x252. Thank you for your donations which go to those whom our Lord sends to SCBC for help!
Women's Prayer Group
The SCBC Women’s Prayer Warriors Ministry Team meets the last Mon of each month from 10:30am to 12:00pm in WC-10. We come together to fellowship, pray for our church, the staff and personal prayer request. Join us and be part of this exciting ministry and see all that Our God can do through prayer.
