Haiti Relief

The earthquake in Haiti has claimed thousands of lives and has destroyed thousands of structures. Many people have asked what they can do to help. SCBC in encouraging everyone to PRAY, GIVE or GO. Pray – we are asking everyone to lift up Haiti and all those affected in prayer. Then, if God calls you to Give or Go, be obedient to Him. DivorceCare

DivorceCare groups meet weekly to help you face separation and divorce challenges and move toward rebuilding your life. Each session has three distinct elements: video seminar featuring top experts, real-life case studies, followed by smaller support group time. DivoreCare meets Mondays from 6:30-8:30pm in the Coffee Shop (AC10). A new session begins Monday, Feb 8. Childcare can be arranged with advance notice. For more information call x260.

 

Kids Caught in the Middle

Kids Caught In the Middle starts Feb 8, from 6:30-8:30pm (during DivorceCare). Children can become overwhelmed when families go through
separation and divorce. This interactive program provides kids with a Christ centered approach to cope with their feelings. There is a $15 materials fee. Scholarships available. For more info, call Ani Salisbury at x247.

 

SCBC Prayer Ministry

"Call to me and I will answer you and show you great and unsearchable things you do not know" Jeremiah 33:3 Did you know that a prayer group has been meeting faithfully for almost a year at SCBC? We meet every Tuesday at noon in the prayer room. We pray for SCBC, the church at large, our leaders, our country and more! ALL are welcome to join us as we pour our hearts out to the Lord. Daily Devotional Plan

The Daily Devotional Plan is an intentional tool to help you get into God’s Word and for God’s Word to get into you. It will not only help you enjoy reading God’s Word, but it will also help you learn to live God’s Word. The Bible places a great priority in the life of every follower of Jesus Christ to be continually in God’s Word. So, join us as we commit as a church body to read it, write it, pray it and live it ~ TOGETHER! You can pick up your copy in the bookstore today!

 

Women’s Ministry ~ Bible Study

Spring session Bible studies are coming and it’s time to register! Our spring session studies will run Thursday mornings, February 4 through May 13 from 9:30 - 11:30. Boat Drivers needed

We are looking for people who are interested in spending 4 days on a houseboat on beautiful Lake McClure from June 28 - July 2. What we need from you is: a speed boat for tubing/wakeboarding, an experienced boat driver, and a desire to hang out with high schoolers. What you'll get; an amazing week on the Lake taking students tubing and wakeboarding and meeting some other great boat drivers(drivers are welcome to bring their spouse). Trip to SF to see Tutankhamun

The De Young Museum, presents Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs. This is a glorious exhibition of over 130 outstanding works from the tomb of Tutankhamun, as well as those of his royal predecessors, his family, and court officials. All of the treasures in the exhibition are more than 3,000 years old. Join SCBC as they take a bus to San Francisco to see this amazing exhibit. The trip is scheduled for Saturday, March 27. The prices are: adults $40.00, seniors $38.00, and youths 6-17 $24.00. Kids under 6 are free at the museum, but not necessarily recommended as being fun for them. Food Network

What’s “The Food Network” all about? It’s about feeding both body and soul. So first we gather and have dinner together at 5:45 PM, and then attend your choice of some great classes from 6:30 to 7:30 PM. The Food Network begins Feb. 2 and runs through March 23 at SCBC. More information will come out next week or click here for website updates.

 

Grand Prix 2010

Join us for the 2010 Grand Prix, pinewood derby car races. Car kits are now on sale in the Children’s Building for $8. And on Saturday, February 20 in the worship center is the Grand Prix Races. Races begin at 11am. Races are for children ages 3 years through 5th grade only. Everyone is Welcome. For more info call 429-1162 x247.

 

Family Time

“Family Time: A Class for Parents with Kids”  is on Sunday, at the 9am service. This ministry is for ALL parents.  This is a new ministry to encourage, support and connect parents. To start off this new ministry, Patty Michelson will lead a video series called “Shepherding a Child’s Heart.” Join us! Anxious about finances? Want to make some changes in the new year? Stop by the Adult Ministries table and find out about moneyHelp and other opportunities to gain control over your financial life. The best help comes from the Bible. We’ll show you. 

 

Want to Make A Difference in YOUR Community

Beach Flats Community Center needs tutoring volunteer for their IMAGINE program. IMAGINE is a collaboration between The Beach Flats Community Center, Mercy Housing, and the Boys and Girls Club of Santa Cruz County. The IMAGINE program offers an after-school enrichment and homework support program for K-12 students who are growing up in the Beach Flats and Lower Ocean Neighborhoods. pantry needs

This year more than ever families who were getting by before are not. There has been a huge need to help families in our community and out body with a simple box of food or meal. To help those who are in need we need you. You can help by purchasing much needed item for our food pantry. Our top most needed items are: canned fruit & Veggies, canned meats and fish, pasta and sauce, rice and beans, canned soup, low sugar cereals and oatmeal, boxed snacks. Other items needed are: Lg juice, refried beans, saltines, canned pastas, rice or pasta-roni, salt/pepper,, coffee/tea/filters, ketchup/mayo/mustard, bath soap bars, dish soap, detergent, oil, cookies, pudding or jello.  If you have questions call x252.  Thank you for your donations!

 

Women's Prayer Group

The SCBC Women’s Prayer Warriors Ministry Team meets the last Mon of each month from 10:30am to 12:00pm in WC-10. We come together to fellowship, pray for our church, the staff and personal prayer request. Join us and be part of this exciting ministry and see all that Our God can do through prayer.
